Our story

At Paka, we bring you the finest extra virgin olive oil, crafted primarily from exquisite Kalinjot olives, a native Albanian cultivar rooted in the Vlorë region. All olives are hand-picked by Albanian Families. 

Paka also takes pride in supporting the economic well-being of Albanian families by creating much needed marketing opportunities, harnessing the potential of local olive groves.

“The project began when we recognized a pressing issue: local olive producers, lacking external markets and fair pricing, were either leaving their olives unharvested, selling their oil at a loss to neighboring countries, or even resorting to cutting down their precious olive trees. In response to this issue, we launched Paka with a mission to promote the Albanian rural community, their land, and the fruits of their labor."

Nestled just across the Adriatic from Italy and to the north of Greece, the Albanian coast, once known as Illyria in ancient Greece and Rome, lies a Mediterranean gem with a heritage of olive tree cultivation dating back more than 2500 years. Albania is abundant with more than 28 olive varieties grown across the country.

However, due to periods of political and ethnic turmoil that isolated Albania from the global market, its extraordinary Albanian olive oil remained a well-kept secret, out of reach to the rest of the world until today.
